Gustavo Toro was born 1982 in Pereira, Colombia. He lives and works in Pereira.
The basis of his work is the observation of the way individuals relate to their surroundings, specifically he studies dwellings in tension with nature, located in territories regularly subject to the forces of nature, where the landscape is constantly altered. Most of his work is developed through observation and field work, undertaken during exploratory trips to such places. The outcome of such observations takes form in mediums such as sculpture, photography or video.
Some of his most recent shows are: Video SUR, Palais de Tokyo, Paris 2018; La condición de los suelos (solo), (bis) | oficina de proyectos, Cali 2018; Alrededor de la sombra, ARTBO Chapinero, Bogotá 2017; A propósito del lugar (solo), Museo La Tertulia, Cali 2016; AÚN – 44 Salón Nacional de Artistas, Antiguo Club Rialto, Pereira 2016; Inflexión (solo), Sala Carlos Drews Castro, Pereira 2015.
